Looking for PA in LS10 for our 13 years old sociable son who has Cerebral Palsy - LEEDS - LS10 <div>6 hours to be worked  over a week- to be arranged with mum to suit Harvey's needs- £9.43 (gross) an hour<br><br>Harvey has a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, right hemiplegia and microcephaly. He is gastrostomy fed. Staff working with Harvey must be aware of his medical needs.  The training for Gastrostomy can be arranged.<br><br></div><div>Harvey is a very sociable boy who engages and interacts well with people around him. He will initiate interactions and shows lots of interest in people around him and what they are doing. He uses non-verbal communication appropriately, such as eye contact, facial expression and gesture. <br><br> <br><br></div><div>What’s important to Harvey?</div><ul><li>Routines</li><li>Building friendships</li><li>Music </li><li>His possessions - teddies and cars, tablet and Gary the monkey and Scruffy the dog</li><li>Being kept busy and involved in things</li><li>His friends and familiar people</li><li>His phone</li><li>Dancing</li><li>Cars – he likes naming them – Subaru, Audi etc.</li><li>Outside play</li><li>He likes being pampered</li><li>Singing </li><li>Reading books</li><li>Having banter!- having a laugh with his peers </li><li>Play bus</li><li>P.E</li><li>Elvis Presley </li><li>Playing with Lego</li><li>Trains</li><li>Beetbox/raps </li></ul><div>·       Playing with tools</div><div>·       Just Dance – dancing</div><div>·       Playing with friends</div><div> <br><br></div><div>What’s important for Harvey?</div><div>·       Being in a calm, quiet environment</div><div>·       Management of his developing independence</div><div>·       Personal care and toileting support </div><div>·       Supported by knowledgeable staff who understand his needs</div><div>·       Ensuring his health needs are met and well supported</div><div>·       To have his behaviour understood and well-managed</div><div>·       Getting out in to the community </div><div>·       To have close support/supervision at lunch times (stores food in mouth- choking hazard)</div><div>·       For people working with Harvey to have high expectations of him <br><br></div><div>·       Adults working with Harvey to be aware he is vulnerable when out in the community as he has no awareness of danger and can be over friendly</div><div>·       Harvey needs supervision at all times</div><ul><li>Achievable tasks (important for Harvey)</li><li>Lots of routine, pictorial support, modelling and understand what success feels like</li><li>Time to learn about his emotions</li></ul><div><br><br>In terms of gross motor skills, Harvey is now able to walk, run, walk on uneven surfaces, climb, sit, and propel a trike. He is able to negotiate stairs with adult support and where a handrail is present, as he has a tendency to fall backwards. He can be clumsy. </div><div>Harvey does not seem to have a lot of spatial awareness and will run fast, this can result in him hurting himself from slips, trips and falls. It is important to watch Harvey closely and encourage him to slow down. he will need supervision at all times.</div><div>There are no concerns regarding Harvey’s hearing, although he is sensitive to noise. He can be sensitive to loud noises which can cause him to panic.<br>Harvey needs to be carefully supervised when eating and chewing. He does not eat a lot and is fed using a PEG which he has on a daily basis. However, he also enjoys eating food at dinner and snack time. He will confidently choose his food and use manners however he needs support to cut his food into small pieces as he can struggle to chew and swallow. He also has a risk of choking. Harvey needs very close supervision as he can sometimes store food in his mouth and needs to be encouraged to swallow and drink regularly. He is able to use a fork, knife and a spoon to feed himself. He is also able to drink small amounts of liquid from a cup and bottle. Harvey needs adult support at all times but especially for gastrostomy feeding and personal care.<br><br><br></div>
