Job Description
Café and Retail Assistant (Part-time)
SAM is a contemporary art museum dedicated to fostering artistic expression and engagement. Our caf and retail space provide visitors with a welcoming environment to enjoy light refreshments and explore exclusive SAM merchandise.
To support our full-time Caf and Retail Operations Executive, we are hiring two Part-Time Caf and Retail Assistants to assist in daily caf and retail operations.
As a Part-Time Caf and Retail Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operations of the caf and shop by preparing and serving beverages and snacks, handling POS transactions, and ensuring a clean and welcoming space. This role is perfect for those with F&B or retail experience, looking for flexible part-time work (12 hours per week) in a cultural setting.

Key Responsibilities
Caf Operations
- Prepare and serve coffee beverages and other drinks.
- Prepare and serve light snacks using a warming kitchen setup.
- Maintain food hygiene and safety standards in line with regulations.
- Wash and clean dishes, utensils, and workstations as part of regular maintenance.
Retail & Customer Service
- Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system for both caf sales and SAM merchandise transactions.
- Assist visitors in selecting and purchasing SAM merchandise.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service, answering visitor inquiries.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Ensure the caf and shop remain clean, organised, and welcoming.
- Assist with daily cleaning tasks, including wiping down tables, maintaining the counter area, and organising stock.
- Ensure strict adherence to NEA hygiene and food safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in F&B service or retail is preferred.
- Barista training or experience in coffee-making is necessary.
- Comfortable handling both caf duties and retail POS operations.
- Friendly, customer-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Must be available for flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- All caf staff must attend and pass a Basic Food Hygiene Course (BFHC), as required by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).
- Each part-timer will work 12 hours per week, with flexible shift allocations.
- Shifts will be scheduled to ensure smooth and continuous operations at the caf and shop.
