Student Counsellor ID-5696
As a student counsellor, you will work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, external professionals and community agencies to deliver school counselling services to enhance students' mental health and social-emotional development.
Reporting to the Academic Registrar and Director of Student Administration, your key roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide individual and group counselling and pastoral care to students.

Respond proactively and offer immediate support to student emergencies and crises.

Collaborate with student care colleagues to establish and maintain the student support agreement.

Offer direct intervention or recommendations for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or those seeking counselling services.

Refer students and their families to external community resources or professionals when needed.

Maintain case consultation records and regularly update progress for students seeing external counsellors.

Plan and deliver training sessions for staff on mental health awareness, first-line intervention, and support skills.

Organise and facilitate small and large group psycho-educational sessions for students, focusing on mental health issues and healthy coping strategies.

Develop and share mental health resources for students, parents and staff.

Prepare counselling-related reports and data for internal and external stakeholders.

Provide secondary support for in-house student events such as Orientation, Convocation and other student activities.
This role is employed directly by the University of the Arts Singapore Limited (UAS Ltd).

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Counselling from an established university.

At least eight years of working experience in counselling, preferably within a higher education setting.

Strong knowledge of mental health issues and the ability to engage with diverse student populations.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish trust and build rapport with students.

Excellent problem-solving, crisis management, and conflict resolution abilities.
-
Proven problem-solving, crisis management and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.

Familiarity with relevant privacy and confidentiality guidelines.

Sensitivity to the arts and culture, and an understanding of the developmental needs of young people through education.

Ability to embrace a student-centric service culture.
