About the Role: Part-Time Insights Analyst (Chinese Proficiency)
Insights analysts on this Team are responsible for identifying, processing and reporting mainstream media and social media intelligence in the form of timely alerts and reports around the clock for a Government client. The Team executes monitoring operations across four shifts at the timings indicated below (8 hours + 1 hour break).
- Shift 1: 0330hrs - 1230hrs ($200 a day)
- Shift 2: 0900hrs - 1800hrs ($180 a day)
- Shift 3: 1530hrs - 0030hrs ($160 a day)
- Shift 4: 2000hrs - 0500hrs ($180 a day)

Mentorship from experienced Media Analysts through being embedded in the respective shifts -
Opportunity to bridge academic knowledge and skills through involvement in an actual client project -

What You’ll Do:
-
Prioritise and manage all alerting and reporting requirements when on shift -
Uphold the Service-Level Agreements established with the client, particularly factual accuracy, formatting and turnaround times -
Translate and summarise news articles and/or TV/radio broadcasts from Chinese into English -
Combine the summaries of news articles with the same topic for a daily morning report for the client -
Create process efficiencies through automation, particularly through Google Sheets equations and scripts
Who You Are:
-
Does not require work sponsorship -
Has 1+ year of strong experience of language and research related roles -
Proficient in Chinese language to be able to translate from Chinese into English -
Able to work on weekend (2 days per week) or longer (4 days) - Able to commit to this role for longer than 1 year

Willing to work odd hours and on the weekends regularly -
Willing to work in office during the training phase and periods of high volume
The ideal candidates would:

Be familiar with Google Sheets equations and scripts -
Pay close attention to detail and accuracy in their work -
Handle tight deadlines and pressure well -
